Indonesia becomes ICCA member again
JAKARTA (indo.com): Indonesia has reportedly been reaccepted
as a member of the International Congress and Convention
Association (ICCA) after being temporarily suspended from
the association's membership, the Ministry for Culture and
Tourism said in a press release recently.
Indonesia was suspended from the ICCA's membership because
it had arrears in its annual membership contributions amounting
to Eur 4.212. The payment of the arrears shows that the
government is serious in developing the meetings, incentives,
conventions and exhibitions (MICE) industry in the country.
Indonesia has a number of potential destinations for MICE
that need to be further developed. "It is natural that overseas
markets frequently pose questions on Indonesia's seriousness
in developing the MICE industry," an observer said.
ICCA - with its international networks - can help develop
the MICE industry in the country, he added.
