Tourism operators expected to adopt just attitude towards overseas tourists

JAKARTA (indo.com): Tourism operators, the public, and the government are expected to adopt a just attitude towards overseas tourist visiting Bali for their holidays.

The Indonesian Tourism Promotion Agency's (BPPI) Vice Chairman Feisol Hasim said that there should not be any discrimination towards tourists in terms of spending power, to avoid any adverse impact on the tourism industry nationally, including Bali.

Indonesia can maintain Bali as quality tourism destination by targeting tourists with 'thick pockets', such as the United States and Europe. "However, attention should also be given to non-star rated hotels, most of which live on tourists with 'thin pockets'," he said.

Tourists from certain countries with low spending power were entitled to good service and treatment. "With this in mind, all lines of the tourism industry in Indonesia will have the opportunity to enjoy a slice of the tourism cake in accordance with their respective market segments. Thus, the national tourism industry will continue to survive and can be a major foreign exchange contributor," he added.
