Bromo Tengger Park reopened for visitors
JAKARTA (indo.com): The Bromo Tengger Semeru National
Park in East Java has been reopened to the public. It had
been closed for several days due to increasing the volcanic
activity of Mount Bromo.
The park was declared open early this week. However, not
all sites are accessible since some are still considered
dangerous for visitors. These include Bromo crater.
Local administration has also advised visitors not to cross
the Bromo sea of sand or to ascend the 2,392-meter high
Bromo mountain. "The two sites remain somewhat risky," a
source at the location said.
The reopening of the park has spurred the activity of local
tourism businesses. "Horse riders, food and drink hawkers
as well as hotel operators are seen awaiting visitors,"
the source said.
The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park was officially opened
to the public in 1982. Spread over 50,276 hectares of land,
the park is located in Malang regency, Pasuruan, Probolinggo
and Lumajang in East Java.
