Bali to use 911 emergency response system

DENPASAR (indo.com): In the wake of the Bali tragedy, local and foreign institutions have proposed ways to prevent the island from another possible disaster. One of them is the operation of the Public Safety Service 911 Emergency Response System. Bali will be the first province in Indonesia to operate the system.

The planned operation of the system will be introduced on December 16, 2002 in conjunction with the conference on
Government regulation creating a secure condition for people and investors.

The conference will be attended by the delegations from IATA (International Air Transport Association). The presentation of IATA within the conference will be very significant in discussing about the additional flight cost from and to Bali.

Mr. Eddy Tjokronegoro, the Executive Director of Public Safety Service Indonesia (YLKMI) said that the system is communally operated by the Police, people and security and safety boards, such as Lifeguards, Hospitals, Search and Rescue Team, and the Fire Brigade.

The YLKMI provide the system in association with various institutions.
