US Travel advisory to Indonesia was lifted

Travel advisory issued by US Department of State for US citizens to visit Indonesia had been lifted after 8 years since 2000, especially after the series of bombing incidents in Indonesia and in particular were in Jakarta and in Bali

It was confirmed by US Ambassador for Indonesia HE Cameron R Hume through written announcement that the advisory is lifted effectively started on May 23. Ambassador Hume said that the lifting of the travel advisory to Indonesia is because Indonesia had been succeeded to intensify the current security and safety measures.

He said that Indonesia had never been attacked by terrorists in the big scale after October 2005 attack and Indonesia government had relentlessly pursued, raided, apprehended and sentenced every terrorism elements in Indonesia.

Ambassador Hume said that this is a significant decision of US government and expected this decision will direct to closer relationship between the two countries. He also expected that a lot of American entrepreneurs, tourists and academicians will visit Indonesia to develop the trading, tourism and education relationship between the two countries.

Ambassador Hume stressed out that US government still had the first commitment to protect their citizens and encourage increasing security cooperation with Indonesia government and also endorsed Indonesia to keep the security measures in the highest level considering that security threats is still lurking.
