Balinese Hindu to hold Ngerobong ceremony

DENPASAR (indo.com): Following the Kuningan Day, Balinese Hindu will hold Ngerobong ceremony at Petilan Pengerobongan Temple in Kesiman Village, East Denpasar on December 8, 2002.

The ceremony will not only attract Balinese Hindu but also local and foreign tourists. The sacred event that will be held in the temple will welcome any visitors but it would be advisable for them to wear Balinese clothes.

During the ceremony, a group of temple's followers in a state of trance will stab their bodies enthusiastically with short swords or kris but there will no bleeding or wound. The acts show that the rituals have been processed accordingly. Several hours in advance the cockfighting will be held as part of the rituals.

Before the October 12, 2002 Bali bombing, every time Ngerobong ceremony was held, many travel agents took their guests to visit and see the event. So, if you are in Bali in early December 2002, you will have the good opportunity to see the event. You may bring a camera with you to take picture of the vent.
