Fine Indonesian and western cuisine is served at the restaurant and Bar. The Donald Friend bar (named for the Australian artist's favourite spot in Bali) edges onto the beach where the most delicious margaritas are served. This bar was rated as one of the best in world in a special edition of Newsweek, October '96. The article reads, "An uneven path leads through a tropical garden to the beach. There, on a raised dais, a few stylish low slung chairs sit against a smooth wooden counter underneath a thatched roof. On the horizon, the tip of a mighty volcano pokes through the cloud above a turquoise sea. The whole magical effect is that you have somehow entered a sepia-tinted postcard from a bygone era".
