As announced last year on February 22, 2006, It is official that Bali will be hosting this year PATA Travel Mart (PTM) 2007 on September 25-28. Indonesia is always known for it's hospitality, since it's been in our generation for many many years. It is also the reason why Bali hosted PTM in 1985 and 1989 along with PATA Annual Conference in 2003. Not very different with Bali, Jakarta also happened to hosted PATA Annual Conferences in 1963 and 1974.
Indonesia especially Bali is really looking forward to once again welcome all PATA members to this world-class travel trade event. Quoting from PATA News, Indonesia's Minister of Culture and Tourism Mr. Jero Wacik words were “ Indonesian tourism is a proud member of PATA, having hosted numerous PATA events in the past. We are honored to be entrusted by the Association to host PATA Travel Mart in 2007. The event is instrumental to the ongoing recovery of the tourism industry in Bali and throughout the Indonesian Archipelago. I can personally assure each and every prospective delegate of a memorable and productive PTM07 “
Many people sees this as a great opportunity to boost visitor arrivals to Bali. For the past 2 years Bali had been suffered a lot due to a series of bombing incident by terrorists. Streets of Kuta filled with local merchants strolling looking for any tourists that would appreciate their work of art, or their popular service, such as massage or braiding hair.
But approaching end of May, car rental capacity begin to raise high, and beaches of Kuta, and the surrounding area began to feel alive again. A lot of foreign tourists also seen in Ubud and Kintamani area. Many of them claimed wants to be a part of this year's Bali Arts Festival and to join the celebrations too.
According to PATA President and CEO Mr Peter de Jong said: “For Indonesia, PTM07 is 'just what the doctor ordered' – a leading, global travel trade event to remind the travel trade that Bali, Indonesia is one of the world's great destinations."
