The 2002 Bali bombing convicts' advocate team withdrew their appeal for case review to the Denpasar Court over the capital penalty of three 2002 Bali Bombing convicts on Monday 24 March in Denpasar Court. The withdrawal was occurred when the Judges denied to present the three convicted in the Denpasar Court to give new testimonials.
The advocate team representation Fachmi Bachmid to Judges the withdrawal of the appeal as the form their protestation against the Judges that denied to present his clients to give new testimonials to the Court. The Court Judges chairman Judge Putu Madeg said that the advocate presentation in front of the Court is enough to represent their clients' wish to appeal the reviewing, so it was not necessary to present Amrozy, Imam Samudra and Ali Guffron to the Court.
The Judges then closed the Court and then all the papers will be endorsed to the Indonesia Supreme High Court (Mahkamah Agung).
Mr. Bachmid said that the appeal will be returned back to Amrozy, Imam Samudra and Ali Guffron to take the next step.
The three convicted of 2002 Bali Bombing was sentenced to death penalty after Denpasar Court convinced that those three indeed found guilty to plan, prepare and execute the bombing in Kuta in 12 October 2002 that killed more than 200 people, mostly Australian tourists. The bombing severed the tourism industry in Bali and incapacitated many tourist operator businesses.
