Number of Indian travellers to Bali increases
JAKARTA (indo.com): The number of Indian travellers
visiting Bali reached 4,747 for the year 2000, compared
to only 3,264 in the previous year.
Chairman of the Bali's chapter of Tourism Office I Gusti
Agung Gede Mega said that in December 2000, around 720 Indian
travellers visited Bali, representing the rise in the number
of Indian tourists visiting the island of the gods for the
whole year 2000.
The Indian tourists had an average length of stay of six
days, with an average daily spending of around US$7.6. "The
amount is smaller compared to that of other foreign travellers.
Foreign travellers have an average length of stay of eight
days, with a spending of approximately Rp 26.9 million,"
he said.
With the recent visit of Fam Tour from India to Bali, the
number of travellers from India was expected to increase
in the future, he said.
Fam Tour, comprising 22 Indians, including 12 travel operators,
three travel writers and two staff of the aviation company
Air India paid a two-day visit to Bali recently.
During their stay in Bali, they visited several tourism
spots including Ubud, Tanah Lot and Sangeh.
