Banten needs to develop tourism infrastructure to tap
travellers
JAKARTA (indo.com): Banten needs to develop its tourism
infrastructure to allow both domestic and foreign travellers
to have easy and comfortable access to the area.
The central chapter of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurants
Association (PHRI) chairman Ahmad Sarialam said that the
tourism infrastructures that need to be developed include
the road leading to the area, public facilities for travellers
and cooperation with travel bureaux.
The local administration should start to think over the
suggested improvement for roads leading to the location
on the grounds that the development of tourism will benefit
local administration and people surrounding the area in
terms of revenue.
"Travellers will not go to Banten just once. If they get
a good impression on their first visit, they will tell their
friends and recommend them to visit Banten," he was quoted
by Antara as saying in Anyer recently.
Tourism operators are also advised to take part in increasing
travellers' comfort by providing public facilities, such
as parks, places of worships and clean rest rooms as well
as setting up a cooperation with travel bureaus to allow
travellers to have easy, comfortable and cheap access to
the area.
He expressed his optimism that in the next three or four
years, Banten will become one of the major destinations
in Indonesia, especially for Jakartans due to its proximity
to the capital.
Tourism operators have dubbed Banten as 'The Virgin Destination
of Indonesia' since many tourism attractions in Banten remain
untouched, such as the Ujung Kulon natural wildlife and
Sangiyang Island.
Sources also said that beaches, unspoilt wildernesses and
the exotic culture of the Badui in Banten provide a magnet
for foreign travellers to visit the area.
