Sangeh
Fifteen kilometres from Mengwi is ten hectares of Nutmeg trees abounding with monkeys.
Two temples, including the ancient Pura Bukit Sari Temple, stand in the middle of the forest and another is at the edge.
As they live in a sacred forest, the monkeys are also held sacred by the Balinese and are, therefore, rather tame.
However,
you may not think so kindly of them, if they steal your spectacles, jewellery
etc, as they are notorious pick-pockets.
