Bali to host a series of international conference
DENPASAR (indo.com): Bali will once again become under
the spotlight when a series of international meeting are
held in the Island of Gods. It will host the FIATA world-trade
conference of freight forwarders from September 30 to
October 3; the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit from
October 5 - 7; and the Summit Meeting of ASEAN leaders
October 7 - 8, 2003.
Top business and political leaders of the ASEAN regions
and beyond are scheduled to attend the summit. They include
RI President Megawati Soekarnoputri, Malaysia's Prime
Minister Mahathir Mohammed, Philippine President Gloria
Macapagal Arroyo, Vietnamese Prime Minister Phan Van Khai,
Chinese President Hu Jin Tao, Thailand's Prime Minister
Thaksin Shinawatra, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro
Koizumi, Singapore Prime Minister Goh Chock Tong, Indian
Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, some prominent
ASEAN business leaders from Malaysia (Dr. Mahaleel, Proton
Saga), Singapore (Tony Chew, Delmonte), Thailand (Charoen
Pokphand), Mr. Theo F. Thoemion, Chairman of Investment
Coordinating Board, Indonesia, and many more.
Australian Prime Minister John Howard is expected to
lead a delegation of 1,500 families and survivors of the
October 12, 2002 terror attack in town to commemorate
the tragedy of Bali Bombing.
Meanwhile, the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ASEAN-BIS)
will put together some objections toward the region's
private sector and government within ASEAN, facilitating
trade and transactions between business people within
the ASEAN region, explore joint and intra-ASEAN business
and investment opportunities
