Domestic flight rates to increase
DENPASAR (indo.com): As from July 1, 2002, the domestic
flight companies are to increase domestic fares by around
20 % for the western destinations of Indonesia.
For the short distance of Denpasar-Surabaya, the highest
rates were issued by Merpati Nusantara Airlines, with
the net price Rp.349,000 from the old rate of Rp.294,000.
Meanwhile, Mandala Airlines issued a new rate of Rp.329,400
from the old rate of Rp.297,100, Pelita Air is up to Rp.329,400
from the old rate of Rp. 281,000, and Bouraq has a new
rate of Rp.298,000 from the old rate Rp.260,000.
In contrast, Garuda Indonesia and City Link have not
increased their flight rates. For Denpasar-Surabaya, Garuda
still charges Rp.329,000, while City Link has cut its
fare from Rp.250,000 to Rp.225,000, Nusa Tenggara Post
reported.
The Sales Manager of PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines, Didik
R Junaedi informed us that the new rates are ruled over
the top limit and the lowest rate limit is excluded. Hence
Merpati Nusantara Airlines make their own rates in accordance
with the company needs.
This price increases are both due to the companies' needs
and also follow the instructions of the Indonesia Minister
of Telecommunication.
