Bali remains favorite destination for Aussie tourists
DENPASAR (indo.com): Bali must be proud of becoming
a popular tourist destination not only for Indonesians but
also for travelers throughout the world due to its guaranteed
safety even when terrorists were reported to be found in
the country.
New South Wales Major George Harrison met representatives
of the Bali Tourism Board in Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK),
Jimbaran, Bali recently.
Harrison disclosed that the increasing number Australians
visiting Bali is closely related to the Baby Boomers when
the World War II broke out, driving more Baby Boomers
to visit Bali.
According to Harrison, the Baby Boomers have entered
their pension age, with lot of money. "On the contrary,
they have no more persons to support. They use their money
to enjoy their twilight years by visiting other (tourism)
destinations and Bali was on the destination list,"
he noted.
Meanwhile, Bali Tourism Board' Chief Putu Antara expressed
his agreement to establish a good cooperation in the area
of tourism, economy, and culture.
He revealed that as of April 2002, over 53,000 Australians
visited Bali.
